TALENTED WRITER ASKING FOR A SHOT

I have eight years of communication arts experience. I have a degree in English from Yale University, one year of experience as a copy editor for a daily newspaper, raw talent and drive. What I don't have is extensive formal copywriting experience or SEO writing experience. I am eager to develop that aspect of my creative offerings.

What I am asking for is a shot.

I noticed that the bids you have received range from 7¢ to 10¢ per word. In exchange for an opportunity and some guidance in the field of search engine optimization, I will work for 6¢ per word over the next six months. A 500-word article will cost $30. After six months, I will request 8¢ per word; after a year, 9¢ to 10¢ per word.

I am proposing this fee schedule because I believe in keeping market rates competitive. If market rates are competitive, ultimately all parties benefit: Clients consistently have a high-quality pool of providers from which to draw; providers are always fairly compensated for their work.

My ultimate goal in communication arts is to be able to provide extensive expertise to social and cultural non-profit organizations, especially those who cannot afford to hire a large creative firm. Non-profit organizations, like any corporate entity, need to be able to effectively utilize every available communication outlet. SEO is already an integral part of any marketing and outreach strategy.

My experience is in writing articles for lifestyle magazines. I also edit and publish a small literary review. My style of writing is quick, to the point, and catchy.
